Air Travel in Hawaii
Hawaii attracts tourists from all over the world. The islands are known for their breathtaking beach views, their friendly hospitality, and their lush undersea wildlife. Every sort of tourist comes to Hawaii, from the honeymooning couple to the dedicated surfer and scuba diver. While tourists come and go, Hawaii’s natural beauty remains. Some of the most popular tourist sites in Hawaii include the beaches, the volcanoes, and the Pearl Harbor Memorial.
The vast majority of Hawaii’s visitors travel by air. It takes cruise ships a very long time to reach the islands. The airlines that provide service to Hawaii are American, Delta, Hawaiian, Japan, Northwest, Air Canada, United, Aloha, Island Air, and Qantas. Because there are almost no ferry services between the islands, if you plan to visit more than one island, one convenient option for you may be to fly to each one.
You will have a wide variety of airline choices if you decide to see Hawaii this way. However, there are many other tourists who also travel this way, so be prepared for crowded lines in international airports, and for long security lines all year.
For trips between the islands, your two main choices will be Aloha and Hawaiian Airlines. These companies offer tour packages that can allow you to see as many of the major islands in Hawaii that you want. Tickets are very easy to come by; while you can use a travel agent, you can even get tickets for these two airlines at local 7-Eleven locations, and even from ATMs!
A typical package is the Seven-Day Island Pass offered by Aloha Airlines. You are entitled to unlimited air travel for one week. The benefit is that you can visit as many islands as you want in a short period of time. This package includes all destinations served by Aloha Airlines and its affiliate, Island Air.
There are some things you should know when you are planning to do some island hopping in Hawaii.
• As with any airfare, if you book early, you will get the best deal. Both of the major airlines offer online booking. This will also permit you to choose the seats you want.
• Your rates will be much cheaper if you fly on weekdays.
• Frequent flier miles can save you a significant amount of money, and they are usable for island-hopping flights as well.
Most of the tour packages offer services among the six primary islands in Hawaii (Kauai, the big island, Molokai, Lanai, Oahu, and Maui
Kauai
Hawaii’s “Garden Island” is reputed for its breathtaking waterfalls, scenic mountain views, and tropical rainforests.
The Big Island
Also known as Hawaii, this is the biggest island. There is a huge spectrum of tourist opportunities here, especially for those who enjoy outdoor adventure.
Molokai Island
Molokai shows tourists a rare glance at original Hawaiian culture. Its beaches are the least crowded, and this island also has scenic waterfalls and rainforests.
Lanai
Like Molokai, Lanai does not have much development. Lanai will offer you the most authentic view of Hawaiian culture.
Oahu
Honolulu, the capital, is located here, as well as many opportunities for surfing and sport fishing.
Maui
Hawaii’s “Valley Island” is split by the leftovers of two volcanoes. Each side of the island has one of a kind sights for the tourist.
As you can see, it would be hard to choose just one of these islands to see on your tour. Find the right package for your travel needs, and see Hawaii by air!
